SQUARESPACE FORMS

Squarespace form submissions not arriving

A visitor says they sent a message. Your inbox is empty. In Squarespace, the form block does not keep submissions itself. Squarespace's Form blocks help page (updated June 05, 2026) says submissions are not stored in the block, so you must connect a storage option. The first job is to find out where yours go.

What the page tells us

  • A new form block connects by default to the login email address of the site owner or contributor who added the form.
  • You can add more storage under Additional storage in the Storage tab. Squarespace names options including Google Drive, Zapier and Mailchimp and recommends a second storage option in case one has an issue.
  • Squarespace says to press Enter or click outside the block editor after changes, so they save.
  • Google reCAPTCHA is required if visitors upload files, and Squarespace recommends keeping forms to 30 fields.
  • Squarespace says that if your site is on a trial, you won't receive form submission emails unless the site owner is a Circle member. To collect responses during a trial, connect the form to Google Drive or Mailchimp.

Which symptom do you have?

Nothing in any inbox. Go to steps 1 to 3.

Email missing but you can see submissions elsewhere. Email delivery is the problem, steps 4 and 5.

Some forms arrive, one does not. That form has different storage or a different owner login, steps 1 and 2.

The checks, in order

  1. Open the form block's Storage tab. Edit the page, click the pencil on the form block, open the Storage tab. Read what is connected. Do not assume.
  2. Check whose email it is. The default storage is the account email of the person who added the form. If that is a former web designer or a contributor who has left, alerts go to their inbox, not yours. Our suggestion: add a storage option you control, then test.
  3. Check for a trial site. If the site is still on a trial, form emails do not arrive unless the site owner is a Circle member. Connect the form to Google Drive or Mailchimp to collect responses meanwhile.
  4. Add a second storage. Squarespace recommends it. Connect one you can check independently, then submit a test and see whether it appears there even when the email does not. That tells you whether the form works and only the email leg fails.
  5. Check spam and filters. Our suggestion, not from the docs: search your mailbox for the form's sender and the visitor's address, and check any filter rules or forwarding that might move or drop the message.
  6. Check the Contacts panel. Squarespace says that if the form has a required email field, submitters are added to your site's Contacts panel under Form submitters. That started on July 21, 2023, so earlier submissions will not be there. For those, check the other storage options connected to the form. Our suggestion: do not treat the Contacts panel as the only place to look.
  7. Check the form itself. A form with a file upload field and no reCAPTCHA is worth a closer look, given the reCAPTCHA requirement above.
  8. Check that changes were saved. If you edited the form and storage looks old, press Enter or click outside the editor, reload the page and look again.

What the result means (our suggestion)

ResultMeaning
Second storage gets it, email does notThe form is fine; the email leg or the mailbox is the problem
Nothing anywhereForm not submitting, trial limits, or storage not connected
Email goes to someone elseWrong default owner login

How to know it is fixed

Submit a test from a different device and network, with a real address. Confirm it in the email and in the second storage. Do this after every change.

When to hand it over

If storage looks right and nothing arrives, Squarespace support may need to look. What we can check is the setup, the receiving mailbox and the route between them.

If you'd rather have it fixed: $299 for one defined problem, with the $99 diagnosis credited. Send us your site address and the page the form is on: tidewellsystems.com/#contact
